The author of a new play about Savannah, “FOUR WHITE GENTLEMEN SITTING AROUND TALKING AND DRINKING IN SAVANNAH ON FEBRUARY 14, 1825” is looking for a theater interested in staging a production of this play.

The cast is for 4 men aged 35, 50, 59, & 66 and 2 non-speaking roles. It lasts about 60 minutes. Simple set: a dinner table, a screen, and a chamber-pot.

Four men have gathered for the purpose of enjoying a variety of fine Madeira wines. As they do so, they discuss the wines, wine lore, Savannah gossip, politics, and their personal experiences of some high points of Savannah history.

You might think of this as “after dinner theater” or, more accurately as “cocktail theater” because the audience members are served the same wines at the same time as the actors onstage.

This is an opportunity for a Savannah theater or theater group to stage a play certain to appeal to both natives and visitors and is quintessentially Savannah: it is about drinking and history! And don’t forget, the audience gets to drink along. A successful and remunerative lead-in to St. Pat’s Day?
